Movie Poster

So this week we created a movie poster on the computer by designing shapes, different kinds of lines, and color. So what I decided to do was make my poster with all kinds of shapes and choose different colors.
My movie is based of a kid that does drugs and he is so high that he starts to hallucinate. Thats why I added all the different colors. The shapes represent the different things he keeps seeing in front of him. The eyes in the poster are the kids eyes and how different he see the world when he is high. The arrows represent how deep he got into drugs and how he lost his way and know doesn't know which way to go.

M.o.m.a Museum

This week I had to go to M.O.M.A in Manhattan and watch a show of different artist. One artist that caught my attention was Romare Bearden . The reason why he caught my attention was because the art work that I saw from him had to do a lot of what my class was working on this week.

I saw Three paintings of his telling a story with just forming a collage. One of them had an African American holding a baby and 2 people walking in the back round. You were able to tell it was night because of the dark blue sky and the moon was out. They where around mountains and it looked as if the African American was posing as if she was taking a picture.
Another one of his pieces looked like they where at a jazz club drinking and having a good time. It shows all different kinds of personality's in just one picture. I was a fan of his work and the different ways how he could tell a story of just forming a big picture.

Hero

This week I did a painting based on what I though a hero was. I had to draw a picture of my self and paste it on my canvas board. I had to make it seem as if I was the hero. So my figure of a hero is someone who speaks up for what they believe in.
So what I did was paint a stand with 2 mic and I am the one who is speaking for everyone. Standing up for what everyone agrees with and to help each other out. On the stand i wrote "Speak Up" and the word "Believe" because it represents the fight for are rights.
The reason why I chose this painting was because the things that are happening in are country and all over the world now. Such as wall street and through out the whole downtown. People are fighting for job and many other reasons. So I painted people behind me to show I'm not alone in it. This is what i see a hero as and why I chose to paint it.

Self Portrait (Loser)

My assignment for the next two weeks is to paint a self portrait of my self either a loser one week and a hero the next . This week I chose to paint a picture of me as a loser. So I decided to draw myself as a cigaret. The reason why I thought this would be showing my self as a loser is because I smoke cigarettes all the time and by me knowing that its bad for my health, and it can kill me I do it anyways. Which I feel it makes me a loser.
I started this assignment by drawing my self in my sketch. I cut out the drawing and glued it to my canvas board. I glued on the to filter of the cigarettes on the bottom and painted the body of the cigaret around my face. I took the top of the cigaret box and pasted it right next to the drawing. I also added an ash tray with cigaret guts and ashes.
I have to say that this would be my favorite assignment we did so far. Its very creative, and its a mind of my own.

Dot Painting

This weeks art class I had an assignment to paint anything that is in my house such as a coach, a hall way, my bed room, etc. I had to paint by only forming dots of paint on my canvas board and only using primary colors, and secondary colors. So I decided to paint the entrance of my bed room. The choice of the entrance of my bed room was because that is my favorite part of my house. Its my favorite part because all my closets are right when you walk into my bed room and almost all my things are in the closet.
The colors I used was different shades violet, yellow, orange, blue, green, and purple. I used the colors red, green, orange, and yellow for the wooden floors and red yellow, and orange for my bedroom door. The different shades violet, blue, and yellow was the color of my closets with a bottom and top pattern of orange and red. The purple is the outline of the closet, and the pink, red, violet, and yellow is the color of my wall.
This assignment has to be one of the hardest ones we did so far. I feel as if I cant even tell what my painting is even based on.

N.Y painting

The drawing that I had to compare my painting to was number 6. The drawing had a path way leading to a house with a big X over the house. Next to the house there was a box and it look like there was a died pig in it. I had to take this drawing and make it based on how I thought of New York.
So my painting is based on tall buildings and lot of apartment symbolizing how over crowded New York is. I drew a factory based on the pollution in are air. Also I drew a stream of water with a taxi boat in it to show how people all over the world come to visit New York. I painted the water like a green blue to show how dirty are river is and how much garbage is thrown in it. The flag standing on the island alone shows the gay pride of New York, how they legalized marriage for all gay people. The colors of the empire state building symbolize the freedom of New York and are powerful city. Also The respect for all the love ones we lost on 9/11.
Next to my painting on New York I painted a hill with a path leading down and on the top of the hill I drew a house which I saw in the drawing. I made it look more of a farm with pigs around to show the comparison in the drawing I saw. This side of my drawing shows how far from New york you really are, and how different it really is. I feel as if New York show exactly how it represents it self. Other then all other places it doesn't really show what its about, but one look of New York tells you everything.

Guggenheim Museum

Ufan Lee is a Korean artist known of his nature and ability to form different positions of objects and or lighting to form different points of shading. He positions different element to a point, to show an allusion by painting the shadow of the object and positioning the light to form a shadow at a different angle. In school I've been learning the elements of shading, by going to see Ufan show at the Guggenheim Museum it showed me the different ways i am able to shade.
The layers of his shading was able to show me the colors going from light to dark or dark to light, and he showed it in many different ways. For example he had paintings based on one color and going from a full paint brush of paint from taping away to having no paint at all. It showed the patterns and the shading of one color just lighting up because of the fact the paint brush was loosing its paint.
There was another exhibit that caught my attention which was based on a light bulb hanging on top of a canvas bored. The middle of the canvas bored was bright from the light bulb but around the boarder it showed the shades of the light getting darker. He painted a shade of grey to show in details from how farther the light hits the more darker it will be.
